Shoes That Look Great For your Shape

Now I know some of you may say "how does shoes play a role in deciding what looks best for my body shape?"  Well, here it is... Everybody is shaped differently and shoes are just as important when dressing properly for your shape. Here are a few tips that will help you achieve that leaner and “taller” effect!

Pear shape: Hips are the widest part of your body, while the shoulders are the narrowest part.

The best shoe for you: Pointed toe heels, and Wedges, and Ankle boots
  • Go for pointed toe shoes, this elongates the natural lining of your foot and makes your legs appear longer and leaner and gives the illusion of height, slimming out the hips.
  • For petite women opt for monochrome colors that blends well with your outfit.
  • Reach for the wedge heels or boots. This provides width to the shoe brings balance to your hips.
  • Ankle boots are a must! It is not going to hit at the fullest part of the calf cutting of the height of your shape. Super trendy and very versatile. Avoid anything with a zipper on the back, as this is difficult for women who have thicker calves. For women who are tall- grab for boots that come up the knee; opt for a slouchy material boot.
  • Hi lo boots are higher on the knee area and lower on the back of the knee which is very complimentary for my taller gals. Petite women can achieve the tall boot look only when going with a monochrome look- such as black leggings and black boots (stay away from pairing tall boots with jeans).

Apple shape and Wedge shape: Upper portion of the body is more broad and fuller than the rest of the body as the legs appear slimmer.

The best shoe for you: Chunky heel shoes, or fuller shoe this will create balance to the upper portion of your body.
  •  Go for knee boots or mid boot.
  • Gladiator sandals will look great on you as it brings dimension and attention to your great features, which are your legs.
  • Pick out a great pair of strappy heels or sandals that have interesting shapes and colors. If you are petite, steer away from strappy shoes as this will make you appear shorter.

Rectangle shape: The athletic or “model” shape is evenly portion with shoulders, waist and hips.

The best shoe for you: androgynous shoes such as-loafers, oxfords, wing tipped flats, or Interesting shoes that create curves and color.
  • Grab for curves, interest, and patterns.
  • Play around with shoes that are fashion forward: wedge with curves, ruffles, t-straps and bows.
  • If you love flats and love your height as is, opt for loafers or flats with cute designs.

Hour glass shape: well-proportioned shape in dimensions of shoulder to hips balanced by curves. Your curves already bring just the right amount of attention. For this shape, it’s all about keeping it simple and sleek not overdoing the shapes and patterns.

For my Petite gals: Avoid flats as this will make you appear short and stubby, opt for a 2 inch heels instead. Pointed toe shoes look best if you have larger or wider feet as this gives a slimming affect. Avoid tall boots, unless achieving a monochrome look and avoid jeans with tall boots.

For my tall cup of glass girlys: Reach for them flats adding interesting colors and designs! Avoid nude shoes or monochrome look unless you want to look more elongated. Round toed shoes make feet appear smaller in size.
